NLB Library PressDisplay

Did you know that you can read newspapers from all around the world for free?
And it’s so simple to access, all you need is just your computer and a Digital Library Account from the National Library Board (NLB).

NLB Library PressDisplay (www.nlb.gov.sg) offers newspapers from Australia to Zimbabwe in an easy to read layout. Just create an account, login to NLB eResources, and look for eNews -> Library PressDisplay.

Yes, it’s that simple. The newspapers are presented as if you are reading it in hardcopy, and it is easy to navigate too.

The search feature is what I like the most. You can type in a keyword, and the Library PressDisplay will return results on newspapers from around the globe that contain the keyword.  There’s also a print feature for you to print out articles in the newspaper that you have read.

So what are you waiting for? Sign up and read newspaper online now!! Think of how many trees you will save reading newspapers online.

Pick up a newspaper today and flip through the pages. I bet you will find some statistics being presented. But have you ever wondered how accurate are these statistics and what are the various methods that are often used to present the numbers.

The Tiger That Isn’t is an engaging book which let readers find out the secrets in presenting numbers.

Using interesting case studies and mixed with humour, the authors let readers discover that more often than not the statistics being presented are not always what they seem to be.

This book is available for loan at OSHD Library.

Hello OSHD!

Welcome to OSHD Library’s first, inaugural blog! This blog is maintained by your friendly, neighbourhood Info Centre librarians: Alan Chong, Sean Chung and Sazali Pakpong.

Write-ups will include synopses and reviews of the various articles, publications and resources in the library so you can skim through and see what is new and interesting in the library at a glance.

As we expand on this blog, we will be looking forward to reading your comments and any feedback that you may have to offer.

Lastly, we hope you enjoy reading this blog as much as we had writing it! Happy reading!!
